  1. I was the drummer in Aluminum Spider Chain. I live in Seattle now.

    Some info about the band:

ALC formed in 1992 and featured Todd Hertstien on guitar/vocals, Tony Rubleski on guitar/vocals, Zode on bass and myself on drums. We were only about 20 years-old when we started playing, but all of us had already been in other bands.

Tony and myself were in a punk/thrash metal crossover band called The Creed while in high school and we mainly played rundown punk "clubs" and skate park shows. Todd had been in a band called Dagwood which also featured Craig who went on to play in Mustard Plug for many years. I don't know much about Zode except that he wasn't from Grand Rapids and grew up somewhere in the northern wilds of Michigan.

This ALC tape was recorded in a concrete basement in Grand Rapids in February of '92. Zode did all of the engineering work and had a digital eight-track recorder along with some rented mics. We pretty much recorded, mixed and mastered this sucker all in one snowy night. I remember the sun coming up the next morning as we were wrapping up.

The tape was only meant to help us get some shows, but it ended up getting played on a few radio stations in GR and Kalamazoo. We also got some press out of it. We played gigs in GR, Kalamazoo and points in between.

At this point, we were all tired of punk rock and hardcore and wanted to do something that was, for us, a bit different. Todd could seriously play some good guitar so we thought we'd try out our classic rock roots for this band. I think we did okay.

After this project, Todd went serious with The Krabs and I went off to Seattle to become a data nerd. Tony is a reknown author and lecturer and travels internationally spreading the word of how to market and advertise yourself and your business. Last I remember of Zode, he had a baby with his longtime girlfriend and had created some software program with which he started a business, i'm not sure what became of him.

I'm currently looking for artwork myself. Anyone has anything, let me know.
